With self-isolation and staying at home as much as possible due to the Corona Virus still going on. It’s becoming more and more important to stay away from other people as much as possible. The social distancing measures means it isn’t as easy to do what would normally take a few minutes. It takes a lot more planning than it once did! In this article we will help by showing you when supermarkets release new delivery slots.
Things like popping down to the local shop to get your evening meal are things of the past. Especially with the length of the queues to get in and out of supermarkets. This being the case, more and more people are opting for click & collect or home delivery options. If they can get a slot booked! For some supermarkets, slots are still booked out months in advance. It can be a real mission to find any availability.
Getting up at the crack of dawn or staying up until all hours in the evening to try and find a slot for your families food shop that week is becoming something of a job in itself! Making sure you check regularly for any new slots becoming available, having every single supermarkets website tab open on your computer, phone and laptop, just to see if you can find something for you and your family.
Delivery or Click & Collect?
When this all first began, getting a delivery or click and collect slot was pretty much impossible. As well as people bulk buying all kinds of food and cleaning products, it seems they had also bulk booked out their delivery slots as well for the foreseeable future! Now however, with many supermarkets bringing on more delivery drivers and staff to help with the high demands, slots are becoming a little easier to get, you just have to know when to go online to find them.
We have been doing a little research of our own cars the various supermarkets and have listed below the times each supermarket release new slots to the general public. Hopefully this will help you when it comes to your supermarket shop while things are still so up in the air…

Waitrose – 6am – 8am (Free delivery to MyWaitrose members)
Asda – 10pm – 4am (£1 – £6.50 delivery)

Please note, these times could change as things develop with the pandemic and as more staff are brought in to help with demand but were right at the time of writing this article.
However, customers are being asked to think before they book a slot. Do you really need a slot that week? Don’t take up a slot that you don’t need, let someone else have it – elderly people who can’t get to the shops or vulnerable people who aren’t allowed to leave their homes due to illness.
Yes, we all have ourselves and family to look after, but maybe just take a minute to think before you go ahead and book a slot that could be much more important to someone else.
Or, perhaps you could ring your elderly neighbour to see if they need anything and you could merge both your orders into one delivery, saving a slot and helping out someone in need at the same time.
